To mark another anniversary of the site, I’m just taking a look back at the last year. There have been some big changes at Castell Coch, I’ve been creating lots of Lego content and, of course, I shared another postcard.
I met some of the custodians and volunteers at the castle this year and it was a fantastic experience. It was inspiring to meet people with such a passion for heritage and they were very kind about the work I do.
The Year of Lego
I’ve published two posts about Lego this year. I hope you enjoyed them as there may be more to come.
I went to a Lego festival recently and met the creator behind Cymru Bricks. He explained the process behind designing the builds and some of the new new technology he’s using. The sets are available to buy in the Castell Coch gift shop.

Big Changes at Castell Coch
The Well Tower had been covered in a decorative wrap for nearly 2 years but it was finally removed in April this year. I happened to be up at the castle when it was taken down and took some video.
Cadw also announced in March 2026 that they’ve developed a new paint colour based on the original castle’s woodwork.
I’ve been visiting the castle regularly to see the new colour being applied throughout the building.

World Postcard Day
The 1st of October also happens to be World Postcard Day. I’ve only shared one postcard this year, which was a 1917 card with an image from 1905.
