Photos of Castell Coch – Part 1

|

I don’t post that many of my own photos on the website. I share them regularly on Instagram but I’ve never had a dedicated series on the blog.

I’ve started taking my camera out a bit more often so I’m going to post a collection every now and again.

I took this shot of the castle a few days ago and was really pleased with how it came out. I’d been exploring Greenmeadow Woods and walked home through the field that overlooks the castle.

The field was full of dandelions so I got down low to frame the castle over the sea of yellow.

I regularly take a walk down to the Ironbridge to enjoy the view up the River Taff. I love it when clouds create a dramatic reflection in the water.

Both of these photos were taken in January 2024 when Fforest Fawr was still a rich autumnal brown. Anyone who’s taken photos at this spot will know the view is unfortunately spoiled by cables over the river and streetlights on the A470. I take the time to edit these out for a cleaner result.

Here are a few more shots I’ve taken this year.
